Hi Guys!,
I'm having trouble getting the hub nut off of my cooper. Can anyone tell me what size the nut is. (34mm??), and where i can get a correct socket for it?
Does anyone have one i can borrow for half hour?
Many thanks

Sorry just logged on, I believe it is a 30 mm and yes I have one in Great Chesterford if you want to pick it up, or I can bring it to the meet tomorrow.
Sorry for the late reply |

Hi,
well we've managed to get the right size socket (33mm) and we've managed to get the hub nut off on the left side but we just can't seem to loosen it on the drivers side, is there anything we can use or borrow? I'd hate to have to take it in to a garage when we can do everything else ourselves!
Can anyone help at all, we only need to get it loose _________________ Charlie - My first, My last, My everything

| I think the nuts rotate in the opposite direction, but check this out first, I'm no expert. |

The only way I have managed to shift a stiff nut is to have as much weight on the front of the car as possible. One person pressing the brakes, one sitting on the bonnet slam panel, and with the wheel on the ground put the socket through the wheel and lever with the longest bit of sturdy pipe you can find. If all else fails take the car to a tyre fitter who would probably be able to loosen the nut with an air ratchet. |
